Disc: I do not own Vandread or any of it's characters or plot... whatever. I'm just writing this for fun

Please take the fact that I'm Swede and thus that English isn't my mother/main/first language into your calculations. So perhaps you people out there could, you know.... ignore those little spelling errors and strange grammar, ne?

Also, this is my first try on a Vandread fic... so don't sue me for messing up the characters/plot/systems whatever. I still haven't seen the entire series yet, but still managed to get bitten by the "Dita/Hibiki" bug. Which explains why this story will mainly be about them. I have just reached the eight episode in the Second Stage, so bear with me if I write anything wrong.

One more thing: Hibiki rocks!

On with it!

"Ugh.... damn it.."

The empty halls gave away a strange echo in result of the voice. The Dreads and the SP Van stood silent, they hadn't been used for several days now and most of the crew was relieved that no units of Earth had disturbed their rest in such a long time. But some people was experiencing the opposite reaction. Meia was of course one of them, and another one was in fact Hibiki.

"Aw cra-"

A loud bang created yet another echo in the Dread bay as something hit the floor, obviously quite hard. While rubbing his head, Hibiki Tokai somewhat managed to rise from the floor under his mecha. He had been doing his usual daily check on his partner to calm himself down when God suddenly had decided that he was to slip on the blank polished panzer plate, which earned the black haired boy quite a bump to the head.

"Damn it partner, what did I do to deserve that?"

Shaking his head to clear it from the dizziness that threatened to surface he again looked up at his golden SP Van. It somewhat had a soothing effect on him when he was using tools, checking engines or mechanics. He didn't know why. Usually he shrugged it of as a thing he had grown up with, and thus felt familiar with it. Another positive thing was that he had a place to escape to, a place where he could think clearly... without her invading his nerves. Somewhat anyway, as he mostly had to withdraw to this place to think about her.

"Dita..." He muttered to himself with his gaze cast onto the newly washed floor, his piercing brown eyes having a more or less sad glimpse in them. Hell, it was so many things he wanted answers for. One thing was; why did he always get so nervous with her around?.

Nervousness.... Damn, he hated being nervous. You can't concentrate when you are nervous, and when concentration falters... so does the chances of reaching whatever goal you have. He didn't blame her, it couldn't possibly be her fault when HE is the one getting nervous. Thus he blamed himself for being easily affected by whatever it was making him nervous, which further increased his edgy behaviour. He somewhat felt like he wanted to distance himself from her, merely because he was so drawn to her... for some reason. It was just.. something about her that... made him warm. It was very new for him, not uncomfortable... it just felt a little extraterrestrial for a third class citizen to experience such a feeling. One day he had actually gotten the courage to experiment with it and had gotten the result that the warmth increased the closer he was to her... but the most odd thing was that it felt like he was about to melt when he looked into her eyes. Her eyes.. god that's corny. What's with her eyes anyway, they're like anybody's else's.... right?. They are blue, nothing strange with that. Well.... deep blue.

So deep....

"Augh! Would you stop that?!"

The question was directed to himself. His irritation grew as he noticed that his heartbeat had increased its frequency drastically and a rather large blush stained his cheeks. With his teeth grit, he took a couple of deep breaths while trying to rid himself of his flushed state.

"Mr. alien-san!?"

Obviously God was not in the mood to make things go well for Hibiki Tokai today. The black haired boy felt something tug at where his heart should be, then turned around to make a run for it just as the extremely pretty Dita turned the corner. Her red hair streaming out behind her as she ran towards him, as usual with a plate of something edible in her hands. Hibiki froze as his eyes met hers, his heart taking a giant leap and once again he could feel his face heat up. A small squeak of joy left the girl as she spotted the Tarak boy.

"Dita have been looking for Mr. Alien-san!"

As she got closer, his brain cells went online again and his gaze shifted downwards while his legs readied themselves for the escape of the century. However, it proved to be a fatal mistake as his eyes caught sight of the plate of food in her grasp. Hibiki froze for the second time in less then half a minute, a small trail of drool making its way out of the side of his mouth. Just as she came to a stop in front of him, his stomach gave away a loud rumbling.

"Dita brought delicious bento, Mr. Alien hungry?" Came Ditas answer to Hibiki's rumbling stomach. Hibiki only rose an eyebrow, temporary forgetting his nervousness for his hunger.

"You're kidding me, right?" Dita only looked at him, a small smile on her lips. Hibiki felt his mouth twitch in amusement, then turned his gaze back towards the food.

"uhm... Then........ gimme' that!"

As usual when Hibiki was devouring the food that was given to him, Dita was sitting beside him while watching him shovel it down. It didn't take long, the bento was gone in about ten second. However, Ditas happy face did not falter.

"Man!.. that was great!"

The usual exclamation after each meal served by the girls on the ship. Followed by the usual position after each meal, hands behind head and using them to support his head while laying down on his back. It looked very comfortable, and it was indeed.

"Alien-san happy?"

Hibiki looked up at her with one eye open. Her blue eyes held some kind of pleased aura that he couldn't really put his finger on. Her eyes gave away a slight sparkle, one that was larger than usual, thus once again making the boy nervous.

"What?" He mumbled.

"Nothing!" She answered quickly, her gaze leaving his face and a small blush forming on her cheeks. Hibiki yawned loudly and stretched out, his right hand accidentally brushing the silky fabric of the girls clothes. Dita didn't seem to notice as she was busy staring of into space, still with the small blush on her cheeks. Hibiki however gave away a barely audible sound which sound could resemble something like a mix of a surprised snort and a hiccup before calming down. Damn, he could feel his nervousness growing by the second, and it wasn't really helping that she was in such a close proximity to him. Suddenly, Dita shifted and scurried closer to him, positioning herself so she was behind him. A small giggle left her as Hibiki felt her knees make contact with his arms. He swallowed nervously before looking up at the girl who obviously was staring straight down at his face. Her hair hung down, some loose strands tickling the sides of his face. Her blush worsened as she smiled down at him, her eyes already caught in his piercing gaze. Hibiki was almost overwhelmed by now, his nervousness-meter was reaching across space and his face was completely red. This left one option.

"Uh... I gotta go!"

Tail it.

"Wait Mr. Alien-san! Where are you going?!"

Fast as lightning, Hibiki was on his feet and running. He threw a glance over his shoulder at the girl and felt a pang of guilt as he watched the despaired face of the red headed girl. The thought that she at least deserved an explanation crossed his mind quickly. After all, it was HE who fled the field because of himself. However, the good old foot-in-mouth syndrome never seize to appear when it's the least needed.

"Uh, to my buddies.. see ya later!"

"Wait!"

Hibiki turned a corridor corner while mentally kicking his own ass for being such a scaredy cat. True, women ARE scary... but he had encountered scary things before. And Dita isn't exactly as dangerous as the earth guys. Why the hell is he running anyway?!

"Kuso!"

He turned yet another corner, the way to his room already mapped in his mind. Everything was perfectly clear in his mind, another left turn, across the room, then right, and at last straight on. Only one thing was missing out in his calculations; A God with a bad sense of humour.

"What the?!"

It felt like the Diety had erased everything called friction as Hibiki slid along the wet floor, not meeting any resistance at all. Misty watched baffled as Hibiki passed her at terrible speed in some kind of surfer pose while sliding along the floor. She blinked once, then twice at the sight.

"What the heck was that?" She muttered to herself before rubbing her eyes.

"Ack! Where's the brake!?" Hibiki shouted in panic, his balance starting to falter. He slid past a sign, his eyes barely having the time to register Warning, slippery floor due to water' that was written on it in a half hearted way. The black haired boy turned his gaze forward again and groaned as he noticed the wall at the end of the turn he was getting closer to by each second passing.

The ceiling was the first thing that Hibiki noticed when he tried to open his eyes, but for some reason he only managed to open his right eye. He blinked once, the darkness of the room making the white ceiling seem bluish. A groan escaped him as he tried to move, he had a splitting headache and his forehead along with his left eye felt all sticky. A lone lamp gave away a dull light into the room, stinging his eyes.

"What the hell.... happened?"

With an exertion he managed to steady himself up in a sitting position. The smell of the infirmary suddenly reached his nose, along with something else that smelled sweet. Despite of his dizzy state his brain managed to register that he had felt that smell somewhere else. A wave of indisposition suddenly washed over him, and he had to go back to his earlier horizontal position.

"Ugh... damn.."

As he was unable to sit up without feeling like hell he accepted that he had to stay down, not without a sullen expression though, and began scouting the area as good as he could. He slowly turned his head to the left, only to be greeted by a large table with a pair of doctors tools on it. As he turned his head back, his headache increased and he had to grit his teeth to avoid screaming out loud. A loud snort brought him out of his personal hell, and to his surprise the headache seemed to ease a bit as he turned his head to the right... only to see a mass of something dark red at the end of his large bed.

"What's this....?" He mumbled groggily, reaching out with his right hand to touch the mass that was next to his head. To his confusion, it felt like silk and had a strange consistence. He let his hand trail it down, before he put his hand back on top of it and yet again moving it down. To his surprise, the mass reacted to his stroking and gave away a soft, almost pleased sigh. He knew that sigh.....

"Mhr. Alien-shan....."

He knew that voice too.

"D-Dita?!" He stuttered as the girl gave away yet another soft sigh, then grabbed his hand that had frozen on top of what obviously was her head. The silk soft material was been Ditas hair, and he had been playing with it. Thank god no one else was in this room.

"N-not good..." Hibiki muttered, forgetting all about his headache and all other things in the world as the girl forced his hand downwards. Hibiki watched her with a panicked expression as she muttered something barely audible before cuddling her head up against his arm, using it as pillow.

"Okay, calm down Hibiki......... calm, down....." He somehow managed to suppress his increasing heartbeat with a couple of very deep breaths.

"First of..... Dita... why are you here..?" He mumbled, shifting his head so he could see behind the mass of red hair. He noticed that she was sitting in a chair, and a quite comfortable looking one on that. With a small smile on his lips he came to the conclusion that she must have fallen asleep during a visit or something.

"Now hold on a sec.... if she fell asleep here, they wouldn't just leave her to be.. right?" He muttered to himself, bringing up his left hand to his chin while staring at the ceiling. The girl to his right shifted so more of her weight got in contact with his arm.

"But then... what is she doing here...?" He once again shifted his head to see behind her, and much to his dislike..... or rather joy' a voice somewhere in his head corrected him, he noticed that she wore some kind of night clothes. She seemed almost like another person with the white tanktop that reached down to her waist, to show a small portion of white underwear, leaving her legs fully exposed. He quickly changed his mind about the another person' part as he noticed that her whole night gear was full of small pictures of different aliens, many of them being similar to the one on his pillow. He didn't really know why, but looking at her revealing outfit made his face feel like it was on fire and his chest nearly hurt from the warmth spreading in his body. Despite his groggy state, he managed to locate a coverlet on the floor by his bedside. Somehow he managed to get a hold of it, as the bed was not so high above ground, and shook it to unfold it.

"I bet you are freezing in that..... light attire.." He mumbled with his face aflame while pulling the cover over the sleeping Dita, covering up most of her body up to her face. A small grin playing on his lips as he wiped the perspiration of his forehead.

"I guess......I-.. ghh......"

Another dizzy spell hit him, his head making contact with the pillow a second later. A weak curse left him as he unconsciously grabbed the sleeping girls tanktop in his right hand, his head feeling like it was going to blow into molecules. A sigh left him as he succumbed to exhaustion, his eyes closing unwillingly with a last glance at the sleeping Dita.

Author: Well, what do you think? Does it suck? Am I really that bad at writing? Send me a flame and I'll stop.

Or will you be one of the few that praise me for writing this!?.............. most unlikely.

I'm not very good at English I mind you, so please remind me if I make spelling errors and I'll try to correct it until the next chapter.

Please R&R. I really want to know what you think.

Until next time, if there is going to be such a thing.
