Chapter 23:
Merciful Heart

Meia quickly triggered the gun and shot his right feet. The man fell to defeat immediately, "Oh! Itai.." he groaned.

Meia finally realized his normal toned voice, "Hey, wait! You're not an Earthling aren't you?"

"It's a pity that I'm not. I'm a Talark. So now you know, come on, shoot me, god damn it!" he preached.

Meia got shocked. Suddenly, several footsteps came running towards them.

"What's wrong?" one of them shouted.

Meia quickly pulled the man up, "Hayaku!" She looked at her map and pulled the man to a storeroom. He rushed in pain by her force for his leg was injured.

The sliding door closed behind them, leaving the footsteps to die away away from them.

The man got shock with Meia's act.

"Wait! What the hell happened? 1st you caught me and shot my leg and just a while ago, you saved me. What are you thinking? Have you gone mad?" he asked patiently but uneasily.

"I thought you're one of the Earthling." She said calmly, partly feeling guilty about his injury.

"You're not?" he asked blankly, desperate for an explanation.

Meia opened her case of pills and took the yellow one, "Here, take this. It'll ease your wound."

The man saw the pill and quickly went haywire, "What!!??? From Talark. You're a Mejere?"

"Shhh.. Quick, take this." Meia gave him the pill.

The guy held his hands out to Meia's helmet and opened it.

"Baka! I'm not a kid," but it's too late to resist....

As he opened her helmet, revealing the blue haired, green eyes pilot, his jaw dropped....

'The look in her eyes.... What a beauty,' he thought.

"What are you glaring at!!??" Meia asked in her icy gesture.

"You are stunning..." he stared at her.

"BAKA!" Meia reddened and gave a huge slap on his drooling face, giving a force that makes his butt land on the floor, damn hard.

"Hey!" he held her slap marks.

"So you haven't tell me about your presence here?" she quickly asked.

"I'm Hawk Reaven, 24 years old," he cut in, "and yours?"

"Can't you answer my question 1st?" she got aggravated.

"You shot me just now, so you should answer mine!" He said.

"Fine!..... Meia," she said in a rude way.

"Hey, you're the one of the pilot from Nirvana, aren't you?" he asked fretfully.

"Yes, and how do you know?" Meia got astonished.

"I saw you. They put a huge news coverage about you people in our planet." He said, feeling fortunate to be with her.

"Whatever, so how about you??" she's loosing her tolerance soon.

He quickly turned into to a serious man, "I'm a leader of the Vanguard squadron, use to be a top official military doctor specializing in psychology. Last 8 months, my Vanguard exploded on the Harvest fleet when it escaped back here. A woman saved me that time. So I was smart and I took this chance to investigate."

Meia gave an I-don't-want-useless-talk look.

"What a simple minded guy!" Meia said softly enough for Hawk to hear.

"Hmm... (Cleared his throat) So how about you?" he quickly changes the topic.

"Through the Peaksis."

"The Peaksis in Nirvana?" he got inquisitive.

"Hai. It looks like we're on the same path. I came here to investigate too," Meia gave a slight smirk.

"Then how about if we work as a duo team?" he asked.

"I don't intend to get to know you better," Meia turned cold. Hawk got stabbed right in the heart. Immediately, he broke down and cried like a kid.

I have no comment on this but Hawk will try to get anything he wants

"Hey, keep it down! You call yourself a man???!!" Meia got worried.

"Until we work together," he continued to cry again.

"Okay, whatever!" Meia gave in to shut him up. 'This is way annoying!' Meia thought.

"Where do you want to go 1st , Lady Meia?" he asked, with a smile. Meia got irritated.

"Actually, the general asked me to deal with the 'spy' and to bring the person to see General," Meia said it clearly.

"Wow, that's scary,"

"I think I'm going to make an Earthling fall asleep and put on your uniform and you can take his. You can't use this ID anymore, you were already detected," Meia said.

"Wow, you're good."

"Okay, ike!"

FANFIC PART 13

Chapter 24
Close Quarters

As the sliding door opened, they found a woman patrolling. Quickly, they went back inside.

"Fuh, wrong gender," he said.

"Here goes," Meia said, looking at her computer touch screen.

Another pair of footsteps was heard. After it past through them, Meia quickly opened the sliding door and aimed her MP5 towards the man. He collapsed and Hawk caught him at once. They went back inside.

"Quick, I have to get this done in 7 hours." Meia rushed him.

"Then, how about me?" Hawk asked her, actually asking for her sympathy.

"It's your problem." Meia said while folding her arms.

"Grr... you called yourself a human?" he got hurt.

"Yes, an independent one." Meia affirmed.

Hawk reddened. How could a woman look down on him?

While he was changing, Meia tried to rebuild his data in his computer data. She's trying to erase the man's memory for they're all half-human.

After that....

Meia pulled the man to General Hamayuki's place....

"You've done a good job, Commander," the general praised her.

"It's my duty, General."

"There's no need for you to bring him to the chamber this time, you should go to the main control room now. You're gonna be late." General Hamayuki smiled.

"Arigatou, General. Now, if you may excuse me," Meia walked out.

Then both of them used the lift to go up 3 levels to reach the main control center.

"You're great," Hawk praised her.

"Hmmph," Meia continued her walk.

They went in to the main control room like nothing happened. Meia looked for the name 'Gustav' printed behind each chair.
Then she sat on the chair and was surrounded by a numbers of touch screen computer. Hawk stood beside her to cover her. Meia activated the computer and downloaded the entire main database and the files into her handy palm computer that she brought along from Nirvana.

After a while,

"All set!" Meia said. She looked at her palm computer and it read 2 more hours.

"Let's go!" Hawk quickly escorted her out of the room.

"Quickly, to the observing area!" Meia pulled him. While walking fast, she packed her handy palm computer into her handy case somewhere in one of the suit's pocket.

After quite a moment, they reached the observing area of the red Peaksis.

30 more minutes...

Suddenly they met up with a group of five men guarding beside the door. Hawk realized their presence but Meia didn't. They got shock and quickly took their sub machine guns and aimed it at Meia. Hawk quickly ran to Meia knowing he can't shoot all of them down at once. He pulled her to the cargo-look-a-like box as the bullets traveled, narrowly avoided them. Quickly he took the MP5 from Meia's suit. He turned and aimed at them as he somersault and rolled to the other box. His bullets caught all five of them. Meia got quite shock of his usefulness after what she saw.

So accurate and so fast. Meia thought, amused by him.

Quickly, he rushed to Meia, "You okay?"

"Perfect. You're not bad as a man yourself," Meia drew a little but noticeable smile.

"Oh, I see." Hawk replied as he looks up to the enormous red Peaksis.

"Wow, I haven't seen this for quite a while," Hawk mentioned.

Meia ran down the hallway as Hawk followed. She reached the capsule in her hideout that brought her here.

"Help me to carry this!" Meia commanded.

As they carried that thing up to the observing area,

"Look, Hawk! You have to go into that thing. You're not allied to the Peaksis, so you need the force from the capsule's non-mechanical structure. You get me?" Meia said hurriedly.

Hawk looked quite blank but he got the main point, though he still doesn't get it with "You're not linked to Peaksis" part.

"Yes, I do..."

"Good!" Meia said. She entered something in the capsule's computer and switched on something.

"Quickly, get in!" Meia said

Hawk climbed in and laid back in the capsule. Meia put her multipurpose handy case beside him.

"If the Peaksis has blue patches and lighten up, I'll let you fall free into it."

"WHAT!!?? I'M GONNA LUNGE INTO THAT DAMN THING???!!!" Hawk really didn't understand anything. ^_^""

"Listen Hawk! You have to! Stop shouting like a kid, okay? You're annoying!" Meia yelled at him.

"Gomen nasai!" Hawk is still in tears.

"Here goes," Meia said as she looked down to the red Peaksis glowing.

As it glowed and turned to half-blue, Meia pushed the capsule with all her strength before she got herself ready to dive in. As the capsule went into the Peaksis successfully, she got ready to jumped until,

BANG!! BANG!!!

Two pistol bullets hit her left leg and it made her collapse and fell down from the observing area, unable to reach the red Peaksis for its distance between the Peaksis and her fall.

"Damn..." Meia groaned.

Back in Nirvana...

Hibiki, Dita, Jura, and Pyoro felt something. They felt a sharp pain and they saw a apparition of a gunshot.

In the bio-garden, Jura and Barnette was sitting together...

"What's that?" Jura looked around.

"Jura, what's wrong," Barnette seemed bothered of her best friend.

"Meia?" Pyoro felt.
