Uchuji-san
The metal doors slid shut behind Hibiki Tokai, Vanguard pilot for the Nirvana. He
gasped for breath as his legs gave out. Sitting on the floor with drops of sweat
dripping off his face, he wondered what he had done to deserve this.
Nearby, a bemused Gascogne looked on at the manly figure before her. "Hiding from
Dita?" She asked him, chewing on the stick that had become a permanent fixture in
her mouth.
"Why does she keep bothering me?! Calling me uchuji-san all the time. Chasing after
me everywhere. Why can't she understand that I'm a MAN. Not some weird-looking alien
flying around in a UFO!" Ranted Hibiki from the floor.
"Well, maybe to her, you ARE weird-looking," commented Gascogne. That comment drew a
glare from him. "Well you are different."
"That doesn't make me an alien!" Fuming Hibiki crossed his arms and thought, "Why is
she so obsessed with alien anyway?"

A young red-haired girl sat on her bed and stared into space. She could see the
twinkling of stars outside her window and they seemed to wink at her in an inviting
way. Come. Come, play with us, they seem to say. And she would have if she could.
But she couldn't. She had to stay here, in her room, on the ship. Here where
everybody was except the one she wanted the most.
Light flooded into the room and she turned to look. The room turned dark again as
the door shut behind the visitor. "Why is it so dark in here? It makes you feel sad.
Maybe we should on the light, hmm?" The visitor cajoled.
She shook her head. "I like it in the dark. It lets me think." The visitor sighed.
"Such a young girl like you shouldn't be sitting in the dark thinking so much, she
should be out playing. What do you say, Dita?"
Dita shook her head and the visitor sighed again. "You're thinking about her again,
aren't you?" Dita nodded as her eyes misted up. The visitor walked towards the
window and looked out.
"When I feel lonely, I like to look out at the stars and think what's it like where
they are. It would be a place of happiness and no one need ever be sad. Ever. And we
would all be together with everyone."
Dita looked at her visitor with large blue eyes. "But how do we get there?"
Curiosity tinged her voice. The visitor looked down at her. "I've always thought
that someone would come when the time is right to takes us there."
"Who?" The visitor closed her eyes. "Mmm. It could be anyone. Angels, for instance.
But I've always like the ideas of aliens." "Aliens?" Dita's eyes had grown as wide
as saucers. The visitor opened her eyes and laughed at her expression.
"Yes, aliens. Good aliens that would fly us there to that place of happiness where
the stars live." The both of them gazed at the stars in silence. After awhile, Dita
spoke up.
"I hope they come for me. Then I can meet oka-san again." The visitor smiled at her
innocence. "I'm sure they will, one day. Are you ready to go out now?" Dita
nodded.
As she was about to step out of her room, Dita glanced back once more at the stars.
"Uchuji-san," she whispered before stepping out.
The End.
