SECOND STAGE EPISODE GUIDE
Episode 1: Red Angel
The episode begins with a battle scene: The Dreads and the Vandread-Dita are battling the Harvesters. Suddenly, the middle of it all, a mysterious red light shows up. It strikes the Vandread. Then, much to Hibiki's horror, the red light blows up Meia's Dread, then Jura's Dread before taking out the Nirvana! Hibiki can only stand and watch.... But then he wakes up from his dream. And welcome back to Vandread. ^__^ Hibiki comes to the conclusion that what he saw was only a dream - but she still leaves his quarters and heads for the hanger. It is there that he meets Meia, Jura and Dita. They then tell him that they each had the same dream and are shocked to learn that he had it as well. Meia deduces that the Pexis was trying to call them and that this is a sign that the Dreads are all changing. Meanwhile in engineering, Parfet senses a change in the Pexis. Later, Dita confronts Hibiki reminding him of his promise and Paiwei notes this down. The Nirvana is ninety days travel away from Mejerr. All around the ship, life is relatively the same as before: BC notes the pod would've arrived, Duero is studying a book on childbirth, Barnette is still irate and has no plans of relying on the men, and Hibiki is reluctant to go to Dita's room. When Duero reminds him of the promise he made, Hibiki says he has no idea what to do in there. Just then, the bridge crew encounters an escape pod.
Ezra is in the medical bay, with the birth of her child drawing ever so nearer. When Jura comes in needing something to take for a headache, she catches sight of the book on childbirth and takes a look at it. She then becomes inspired to get a baby - with a man. When Jura mentions this grand plan to Barnette, she becomes quite horrified. The Dreads scramble with Gasco's supply ship to recover the escape pod. However a group of Harvester Cube ships show up, also intent on claiming the pod. The Cubes take the pod so Meia and Hibiki combine to make the Vandread-Meia and take off after it. However in the Vandread, Meia starts seeing the red light from the dream. The Vandread-Meia then gets separated and the Reapers sneak from below to claim the pod. Hibiki and Jura combine to make the Vandread-Jura. Once onboard Jura makes it quite clear to Hibiki that she's keen to make a baby. The Vandread-Jura then projects it shield to protect Gasco and her ship which has now claimed the pod. Suddenly a new Reaper appears and fires a powerful laser - Hibiki and Jura start seeing the red light in the laser and the Vandread-Jura gets separated. Dita then combines with Hibiki to form the Vandread-Dita. The Vandread-Dita then picks up the pod when it is suddenly struck by the laser. On the Nirvana, Parfet notes that the Pexis is scared - Pyoro adds that he can sense something coming...... In battle, the new Reaper ship grabs the Vandread-Dita. Acting on a refusal to die, Hibiki toasts the ship and reclaims the pod. On board the Nirvana, everyone crowds around to see the contents of the pod. Inside the pod lies Misty, who wakes up from being in stasis. Hibiki pushes to front of the crowd only to trip and fall onto Misty. Thinking he saved her life, Misty grasps him a massive hug declaring him her prince. Dita is understandably horrified.
Return To TopEpisode 2: Be My Baby
Reading the data from the escape pod, Duero finds out the newcomer's name is Misty and that she's been in stasis for sixty-three years. Misty, along with Q-chan, wakes up and immediately thinks Duero is cute. Bart asks Misty on if the planet she's from is one where men and women co-exist. She answers by saying that's a dumb question and he's an idiot (yep, she's going to fit well in here - Spike). She then catches sight of Hibiki and asks him if he believes in love at first sight. When Dita intervenes, Misty asks her if she is his girlfriend. When everyone is baffled by the concept of 'girlfriend', Misty is left in a state of disbelief. BC then finds an encoded message accompanying the escape pod and decides to crack it. Later, Dita confides to Ezra her contempt towards Misty. Suddenly, Ezra goes into labour! Meanwhile, Gasco reminds Hibiki of his promise to Dita. When he snaps at her, she notes that he doesn't have a clue. Storming off, Hibiki then encounters Dita leading Ezra to the medical bay. Seeing him, Dita then asks for Hibiki's help. They both lead Ezra to a lift... ...when suddenly the power goes out. It seems the capsule's encoded message has it's own defence system, which is now hacking into the Nirvana. With the power out, Hibiki, Dita and Ezra are all trapped in the lift. They radio for help through the intercom and Duero then has to guide them both through the birth. When it becomes clear of his limited knowledge of childbirth, The Boss takes over.
Suddenly, the Nirvana is attacked! The Dreads scramble only to be confronted by a pair of flagships. They ensnare the Nirvana and send Bart flying out from his pocket dimension. Back in the lift, Ezra's water breaks, thus making Hibiki freak out. As she prepares to deliver the child, Ezra makes both Dita and Hibiki promise to be friendly to each other. With the birth growing ever so nearer, Hibiki freaks out so Dita takes over. The birth ends up being a success - part form Hibiki passing out. Suddenly, the message responds to the baby's crying - the sound of a baby crying was the password! Excited, Pyoro runs to meet 'Pyoro-2'. In battle, Meia leads the Dreads to attack the flagships via the grappling lines. When this is successful, she then orders a direct attack into the flagships themselves. This causes both flagships to explode. Back on the Nirvana, the Pexis returns to normal and the power comes back online. The lift activates sending, Hibiki, Dita, Ezra and baby all plummeting downward - fortunately, the lift is stopped by Pyoro's intervention. The now-decoded is message is then broadcast over the ship. On it is a man and a woman explaining the situation on Earth: There are no more babies that can be born on Earth for the population has reached saturation point. With evolution now an impossibility, the people of Earth has now declared themselves as the true humans and proclaimed it's right to harvest all other humans. And the Harvesters was created using the last Pexis. In the medical bay of the Nirvana, Misty is in admiration of Hibiki being present at the birth. Once she finds out that he fainted, she is even more impressed and kisses him - in front of Dita (Bitch! - Spike), who is quite horrified.
Return To TopEpisode 3: Blossoming Path (aka, Bart's single moment of glory - Spike)
The episode begins with a recollection from Duero: the Nirvana having spent three days on a desolate world. Everything is barren rock and been contaminated with disease - it seems that the environment has been altered deliberately in some kind of ecological experiment. The crew of the Nirvana are able to stay healthy due by regularly taking a number of vaccines. The pirates are tyring to help the people with some medical care but it simply isn't enough. Parfet then gets an idea to terraform the entire planet so she enlists the help of Hibiki and Jura and has them shield the planet with the Vandread-Jura. On board Jura tries to hit on Hibiki but is interrupted by Dita and Misty. On the planet, the bodies of the dead are collected by the ships from Earth. In order to prove that the people on the diseased world existed, the people have adopted a custom of making dolls fashioned in the likeness of the dead. Meanwhile, on the planet Bart makes a friend in a little girl called Shirley. He impresses with his (fabricated) stories and she seems amused. Bart then suggests to Duero that they should take the people back to Taraak. Duero answers by saying that the journey will require a lot of supplies and a certain amount of strength form the people for such a long journey. On board the Nirvana, Meia and BC discuss the Pexis. BC notes on how it seems to have a will of it's own. Back on the diseased world, Shirley makes a doll for Bart. She show sit to him saying that it's her first effort and it's incomplete - as the doll is missing it's hair. Bart is touched. Shirley then tells Bart that all she's ever wanted is to go and explore the world. Bart then urges her to get better. Later, when Duero tells him that she'll die soon, Bart shoots back by saying that she's the only one who takes him seriously. Gasco and Barnette then show up with a pregnant woman. Duero notes that someone not contaminated by the diseased world at birth can be safe for life. After numerous failed attempts with her terraforming device, Parfet agrees to use it to seal off one single bed. Jura and Hibiki, both feeling rather exhausted, then cease with the shielding. And then a Harvester arrives.....
With the Harvester approaching, Jura and Hibiki are ordered by Meia to stay put and to ensure the Vandread-Jura keep it's shields up in the upcoming conflict. Bart is also ordered back on board. At first reluctant to go, he eventually vows to defend Shirley with his life. The Dreads scramble but the cube types prove to be tougher than usual. On the Vandread-Jura, Jura reaches the limit of her strength and collapses. This causes a drop in the Vandread's shielding and a cube type falls to the planet and crashes on the surface. Meanwhile Shirley wakes up in her bed and remembers she needs to finish the doll. She reaches for it but collapses. When Duero finds out of this, he orders Pai to contact the captain saying she must deliver the baby. Back above the planet, Barnette and Gasco join the fight as The Harvester attacks the Vandread-Jura with an enormous vacuum. On the Nirvana, Bart vows to never move from his spot, saying that the Harvesters shall get nowhere near the planet - Suddenly, a series of missile launchers suddenly activate all across the Nirvana. Such is Bart's will that the missiles have activated for him and can be controlled entirely by him. He targets all of the Harvesters in sight and lets off a barrage. The missiles race across space, diverting over all friendly ships and obliterate all Harvester forces in sight. All the pirates are impressed - Hibiki says Bart has just proved himself as a man. Back on the planet's surface, the Baby arrives healthy. It is contained within a sanctuary set up by Parfet. Although disappointed she couldn't purify the entire planet, the planet's elder says they have provided them with hope for the future. Meanwhile, Bart runs to Shirley's room to find that she has died. Duero says she gave it her all to the end and asks for forgiveness from Bart for trying his best. Bart then finds the incomplete doll. Later, the Boss asks Bart if that's the first time he had someone close to him die. She then tells him that he should remember Shirley - The flame of her soul is inside him and he should use it. She also adds the tears for the one's we love are nothing to be ashamed of. Inspired, Bart shaves his head to resemble the doll.
(Fortunately, this moment of glory is fleeting - normality resumes in the next episode - Spike)
Return To TopEpisode 4: Everything
The Nirvana comes across a battered space station named Outpost Delta 6. BC wants to investigate it for supplies and any information - she leads the investigative team personally. Initial communications with the inhabitants on the station reveal they are short on supplies and are of hostile intent. When BC offers help in the form of the pirate's engineering crew to fix areas of the station, they are granted entry. BC leads a groups consisting of Gasco, Jura, Parfet and Barnette - who takes along her vast array of antiqued firearms. Hibiki and Pyoro tag along when Hibiki insist that he can deal with any tough guys. Dita comes along in her dread. Once on board the station, it is clear that it's in a shabby condition. It is also populated by a group of rather desperate looking people. On board the Nirvana, Duero runs a scan and finds that the station defences are full of holes and the radar is faulty. The pirates are led into arena where they meet the two leaders of the station: A woman named Liz and a heavy named Patch. It's from these two that the pirates learn that Mejarr is currently located behind a magnetic storm. When BC tries to state her case, Liz refuses, informing the pirates that on the station if anything is wanted is taken simply by force. As such, she proposes a challenge: As the people on the station are lacking in entertainment she will help the pirates if one of them manages to win a round of combat in the arena. BC instead challenges her to a one on one. Liz agrees and draws forth what looks like a light saber as BC pulls out her whip. Back on the Nirvana, Duero notes that the station seems to have taken some heavy damage recently. In the arena, BC and Liz fight it out. Suddenly, the fight is interrupted in the form of Rabat. He notes on the poor defence systems in the station. Liz seems to know him.
Suddenly, the Harvesters attack! (naturally - Spike) Meia immediately goes into action and orders all Dreads to scramble. Misty is in admiration for her in doing so. A Harvester attacks the station, breaches the hull and dispatches some slime into attack. On board the station, Rabat encounters the pirates and tells them the station is populated by people from other worlds whom are hiding form the Harvesters. When it becomes clear that the slime is in the station, Gasco asks what the safest place in the station is. When Patch says the Control room, BC takes charge: She orders Gasco and Parfet to lead all the station's inhabitants to safety as Barnette, Jura and herself form a rearguard. Meanwhile, Pyoro has to lead Hibiki and Dita to their respective Vanguard and Dread. As the Station inhabitants flee, BC, Barnette and Jura take stand - Barnette with her guns, Jura with the laser rings and BC with her whip. The slime breaches security and the fight begins. Immediately it becomes clear that the slime will respond to being attacked with anything solid - thus Jura's ring lasers are useless. So she picks up one of Barnette's rifles (and is actually quite good with it!). In time, Barnette lets BC borrow a shotgun, and is surprised to learn she can use one really well, and even Liz pitches in with a flame thrower. However, as the rearguards falls back they eventually catch up with the fleeing station inhabitants. Meanwhile, Meia leads the Dreads into attack. They have little success and Bart refuses to release his missiles out of concern for hitting the station. But Hibiki and Dita manage to escape and they combine to form the Vandread-Dita! Pyoro is also in the cockpit and he seems quite disgusted with what he sees. Dita and Hibiki also notice some changes in the cockpit. As the Vandread protects the station, the Dreads draw the Harvesters away and Bart's missiles do the rest. In the aftermath, the pirates got to work in repairing the station. As this is going on Liz tells Rabats that's it been 37 times that he has made her jealous - and just how hard it is to find good-natured people these days. Watching them both,. Dita is in awe of what she describes as an adult relationship. Meanwhile, Barnette goes back through the station looking for all those guns she had to leave behind....
Return To TopEpisode 5: Some Days
Dita is busy making riceballs for Hibiki (of course). She hunts him down to give them to him but finds him playing a game of cards with Gasco - as he is being fed by Misty. Jealous Dita tries to intervene only to have Misty counter her by saying she hasn't kissed him yet. Hibiki doesn't pay much attention as he's concentrating on his game - only for this particular one, Gasco has implemented a timer to make sure he doesn't spend too long on his turn. When Hibiki loses the round, Misty immediately blames Dita. Elsewhere, some of the pirates are busy doting over Ezra's baby. Ezra introduces her as Kahlua stating that the name was the Boss' idea. But Pyoro doesn't like this insisting that the baby's name is really Pyoro-2. Suddenly a new Harvester fleet approaches, one that contains one of the larger mother-ships. Called in action, Hibiki tells Gasco they'll finish the game when they get back. The Dreads scramble. Hibiki and Jura combine to form the Vandread-Jura when suddenly, the Harvesters produce a new weapon: A fake Nirvana! Meia and Dita both get blasted and start seeing the distinctive red glow from before. The Vandread-Jura creates a shield which ends up immobilising the enemy fleet - but to no avail. The Fake Nirvana fires a laser powerful enough to break the shield and the Vandread gets blasted with a force to separate both Hibiki and Jura. Hibiki starts seeing blood and Jura is knocked unconscious. This inspires Barnette to attack with a furious nature - but she doesn't get very far when Gasco orders her off saying she is far too hot-headd. Eventually all the Dreads are rescued by Gasco's ship. Back on board the Nirvana, Jura is lying in the medical bay all bandaged up. Duero insists to see Hibiki's data card (the tag he wears around his neck), in order to see his medical record so he can be treated. Angry, Hibiki agrees - only to be berated by Gasco. The data card comes out as being unreadable. When Gasco notes the gloomy mood in amongst the pirates, Barnette shouts at her, demanding why she called her off.
As the Nirvana flees from the fleet and everyone prepares to regroup, Gasco explains to Barnette that she was called off because she would've just gotten herself killed: those driven by emotion usually end up going nowhere. Hibiki accuses her of not knowing the desperation of wanting to stay alive. Gasco retorts by saying that she is only interested in surviving over taking chances. Hibiki says she knows nothing of the pain of others - which prompts Meia to slap him across the face, saying that Gasco knows more of the pain of losing others than anyone on the Nirvana. Back outside, the fleet manages to catch up with the Nirvana. What's more, the fake Vandreads show up again, ready to attack. Back on the Nirvana, Gasco picks up a treasure chest - she removes the wire she uses as toothpick and it forms into a key. Gasco then uses the key to unlock the chest. It is then revealed that she got this key from her big sister who called her Gasco. As time went on, both Gasco and her sister entered the military. There, Gasco found herself being ordered around by her big sister - who angrily insisted that Gasco treat her as a CO rather than a sister. Further blows came when Gasco's manner, both sympathetic and angry in equal amounts, ended up putting a lot of lives at risk. In the terraforming incident, Gasco refused to leave the planet - even to the point where it argued with her sister's command. Suddenly, the hallway they were in exploded and when Gasco's sister tried to rescue a girl from floating out into space, the defence system sensed the vaccum and it was sealed off. Thus, Gasco was separated from her sister by an airlock door. And from the other side of an airlock door, Gasco heard the final words of her sister - it was an apology for being so rough. When he's told of this, Hibiki gets an idea. Meanwhile, Parfet notes a change in the Pexis - it seems that there is a second Pexis, a red one, and the Nirvana's Pexis is frightened of it. When it's time to attack, Hibiki leads the Dreads into battle, saying he intends to destroy the mothership from the inside. With Meia combing to form the Vandread-Meia, he leads the attack but the Fake Nirvana intervenes. Suddenly, the Fake Nirvana transforms into a mecha! It immediately, starts to attack the Dreads - Barnette is then struck but is then rescued by Gasco. But then the Fake Vandread-Jura runs into Gasco's ship, thus allowing the Gasco to be caught by the Fake-Nirvana-mecha. Gasco then drives her ship into the mothership, taking the mecha, and herself, into a massive explosion.....
Return To TopEpisode 6: Original Smile
Gasco's ship is gone. Her ship isn't showing up on the Nirvana's scanners. When Hibiki tries to challenge the Fake-Nirvana-mecha, he ends up seeing the red Pexis again. The Vandread-Meia is then separated, leaving Meia telling herself that she didn't think she was strong enough not to be afraid. When Hibiki tries to go after the Fake-Nirvana-mecha himself, the Pexis takes over: It takes control of the Nirvana, thus rejecting Bart from his wormhole, and flees. The Dreads follow. The death of Gasco has left the pirates demoralised. But the Boss tells everyone she left them with an advantage: a huge hole in the side of the Mother-Ship. When Parfet learns of this, she gets an idea. Meanwhile, Barnette is sitting beside Jura's bed upset. Just then, Jura regains consciousness and tells her to cheer up. Elsewhere, Hibiki finds the game he and Gasco were playing before. He also runs into Dita who tries to cheer him up. When he yells at her, she admits that she has never known what do when people are sad. It is then revealed that before joining the pirates, Dita used to an orphan who lived in a block of flat - however whenever she made a mistake or say something silly, she would get laughed at. As such, she just wants everyone to be happy. Barnette then enters and asks Hibiki why he didn't save Gasco. She then goes on to berate him saying he talks big but when it matters he is simply useless. Hibiki prepares to confront her but he knocks over the timer. This then gives him an idea. Hibiki then gathers the Dread pilots and BC, saying he wants to inject the Mother-ship with the Pexis virus from Misty's pod. In order to do this, he needs to infect the Mother-ship through Pyoro. However, in order to create a route through past the Cube-types and to the inside of the Mother-ship, Parfet suggests one of her inventions to break all communication links. Just then, the Pexis comes back online. With the plan in mind, all of the Dreads and Hibiki, with Pyoro in tow, all head into battle. Barnette breaks the communication link, Bart takes out several Cube-types with his missiles and Meia and Hibiki combine to form the Vandread-Meia to head into the Mother-ship. Dita and Barnette follow the Vandread Meia only to be confronted by internal lasers. One of these hits Barnette.
Inside the Mother-ship, Meia and Hibiki separate. Hibiki then combines with Dita and both, with Meia, prepare to defend Pyoro as he injects the virus. Under attack, Pyoro manages to reach into the circuitry of the Mother-ship. Suddenly, the Fake-Nirvana-mecha shows up and attacks. But then Jura appears in her Dread - and on painkillers. With Meia, Jura and Barnette under attack by the Fake-Nirvana-mecha, the Vandread-Dita shoots at it's feet and succeeds. Then the virus manages to infect the entire Harvester fleet sending them all offline. Thus, all of the Dreads flee. Suddenly, the Fake-Nirvana-mecha wakes up and takes off after them. It blasts Hibiki, Dita, Meia and Jura - as Barnette can only watch. Meia then orders Barnette to escape but she refuses. Dita says she has a feeling they wont lose. The Fake-Nirvana-mecha then blows all the Dreads up...... ....When suddenly, a new Vandread appears. All three of the Dreads have combined with Hibiki's Vanguard to create the Super-Vandread! And Pyoro finds himself, much to his horror, in the center of the new Vandread! Hibiki and Dita are both impressed whilst Meia is in disbelief and Jura is baffled at seeing such a large control panel. The Super Vandread then attacks, blasting the Fake-Nirvana-mecha to smithereens as the Mother-ship and fleet continues to remain silent. Back on board the Nirvana, Meia deduces that the Super Vandread wasn't a product of the Pexis but the fact that she, Hibiki, Dita and Jura all had the same thought - they were being all optimistic. Meanwhile, on the bridge, BC tells The Boss that the crew are requesting a funeral for Gasco. Ezra then tells Misty that Gasco was with The Boss from day one - and the Boss thought of her as a daughter. Elsewhere, Hibiki finds Gasco's unplayed hand and takes a look: Four Aces and a Joker. Finally, Barnette takes over as head of the Reg. The Boss then tells BC that she volunteered.
Return To TopEpisode 7: Kiss On My Cheek
The episode begins with a glimpse of The Boss' quarters: She is resting in a four-poster bed, and her head has a full mass of long blonde hair. Beside her is a photo of her with a young boy. Suddenly the alarm goes off. Parfet works on the Dreads and notices how the Pexis seems to be influencing various changes onto the Dreads themselves - now they can enter an atmosphere of a planet without having to be reconfigured. And the alarm is still going off: It seems that a fault in the plumbing has resulted in the male quarters being flooded. With Bart, Hibiki and Duero being ousted form their usual quarters, Misty takes it upon herself to invite Hibiki to her room. He refuses and when Bart offers to take his place, Misty rebukes him by calling him a light-bulb head! Parfet then shows up offering her quarters to Duero who politely refuses. This leaves Bart in exasperation. Hibiki moves to the hanger preferring the company of his Vanguard. Then, Misty shows up offering him food - he accepts without hesitation and she then proceeds to watch him eat. When she notice show cute he looks, he is disgusted. Unfortunately, Dita had already prepared a meal for Hibiki and she arrived too late to give it to him.... When she mentions this to Jura and Paiwei, they both encourage to take action. Suddenly, Pyoro sense Paiwei has a cold and, for the sake of protecting 'Pyoro-2' looks her up in a cupboard. Elsewhere, Jura and Amarone set up a monitor to watch Hibiki as Misty keeps feeding him, They both agree that she seems to be the expert on male/female inter-relationships - and when Misty mentions the concept of 'boyfriend' Jura and Amarone are both baffled. Meanwhile, Bart is frustrated by having nowhere to settle - even BC won't let him in her room. Back at the monitor, a crowd is gathering. Dita is standing nearby looking rather distraught. In the hanger, Misty manages to convince Hibiki to go to her room with the promise of dessert. One the way, they both run into Dita - who is too upset to protest. Eventually however she does pluck up the courage to ask Hibiki to go with her on the promise of... a toy. Misty then knocks the toy out of her hand and yells at Dita for getting in the way. When Dita tries to pull Hibiki away, he yells at them both and storms off. Misty then berates Dita for constantly getting in her way (BITCH! - Spike). Dita then goes to her room and breaks down (Awwwwww..... - Spike).
Parfet and Duero are hard at working fixing the plumbing problem. When Hibiki asks when it it'll be over so he can have his room back, Duero suggests that he pitch in. Meia then appears telling Hibiki that having his room returned won't solve much. She then tells him that the differences between the men and the women on this ship are breaking and something is developing between him and Dita. When Hibiki protests, Meia replies the Hibiki he used to be wouldn't run away and he should really be honest with himself. Hibiki then grumbles on how more talkative she's become. Back at the monitor, all of the pirates are irate at Dita's lack of taking action. They are also wondering if it's possible for a man and a woman to live together. Jura however is annoyed by how slowly things are moving. In the hanger, Hibiki finds the Santa-toy Dita made for him. Misty then appears asking him if he's thinking of Dita. She then tells him she is an outsider and she has nowhere else to go. Hibiki then offers her to help polish his Vanguard. Meanwhile, Ezra also notes that Misty is an outsider and she tells Dita that she should really go to the effort of making friends with Misty. Later, Hibiki goes to the reg and meets Barnette - she offers to listen. Later still, Misty runs into Hibiki and he notes that they should get along with each other as they are living together. Then, Dita sees them together and is horrified. Seeing this on the monitor, Jura decides to take action, saying Dita needs to be honest with herself. When Hibiki tires to go after Dita, Misty pulls him away - Hibiki replies that with Dita he fells something he's never felt before. Later, Jura orders Dita to go to a conference room to discuss a new Dread formation. When she gets there she finds only Hibiki: Jura then appears on the monitor saying she arranged this so they can have some quiet time to themselves and sort things out. Then, a live transmission of the room is broadcast across the ship so everyone can see both Hibiki and Dita. At first there is little progress - Thus sending the pirates into frustration. Misty then notices them all backing Dita and berates their comradeship. Meia notes this and follows Misty to the artificial garden where she is crying. Meia then tells Misty she shouldn't be afraid as they are all allies. Elsewhere Hibiki finally plucks up the courage to speak to Dita. he then goes so far to say that that he l........when suddenly the Harvesters attack! (AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!! - Spike). As Meia heads off to battle, Misty calls her 'big sister'. Hibiki leads all the Dreads into combat.....as Paiwei is still locked in the cupboard.
Return To TopEpisode 8: Reality
Everyone is acting rather oddly towards Meia. However it soon revealed that tomorrow is Meia's birthday and the pirates want to throw a big surprise party. However, even as they do this every year, Meia keeps running away. So all of the pirates are maintaining secrecy so this time it will work. When Misty notes everyone to be behaving in a strange manner to Meia, Meia explains that she is not happy about her upcoming birthday - it seems she is not comfortable with being the centre of attention. Misty then finds such stoicism admirable. Hibiki then learns about the surprise party from Paiwei and Dita. Keen on the promise of food and the challenge of stopping Meia running away, he agrees to help. He then begins coming up with a plan.... Meia goes to her Dread only to find Parfet working on it, thus preventing Meia from fleeing. Meanwhile, Duero sees Hibiki working with Dita and Paiwei and notes how both sexes are working in an alliance, When he learns of the surprise party, Duero agrees to help. The pirates then begin monitoring Meia's movements and proceed to misdirect her from any opportunities that will get her out of this. When Duero suggests that they make Meia's destinations for her, it is then suggested that she take care of Kahlua. Ezra agrees to this - but Pyoro doesn't. BC then notes how often Pyoro always seems to be taking care of - Ezra then admits that she doesn't know how to Meia then encounters Hibiki, Dita and Paiwei in the hallway. They then con her into taking care of Kahlua. When Meia protests, Hibiki challenges her, suggesting that she is whimping out. Elsewhere, BC summons Ezra to her room for a talk: When raising a child, experiences generated by the bond of a child and a parent are necessary and most things learnt by a child are through trial and error. Ezra replies she feels so alone and helpless and she has no one to talk to. BC then tells Ezra that Kahlua is the first baby to be born on board the ship and, in a way, everyone on the ship is Ezra's mother. And that Ezra is not alone. Meanwhile, Miea has no idea what to do with Kahlua. Suddenly the Harvesters attack! In the mayhem that follows, Meia accidentally falls into an escape pod, taking Kahlua with her.
In combat, Jura can't find Meia. Bart fires his missiles at the Cube-types but to no avail. With Meia absent, Jura takes command of the attack. Meanwhile, Meia finds the pod to be horribly obsolete with no beacon and no communication source. Back in the battle, Barnette notices a change in Jura. Jura replies that she just wants to do her best and not end up following Gasco. On the Nirvana, Misty notices that Meia isn't anywhere on board. When Midori notices an escape pod missing, BC commands she go with Ezra to the radar. Misty then tells Ezra she has faith in Meia. In combat, Diat and Hibki combine and go after a large ship - only to discover that it keeps disappearing and reappearing. Back in the pod, all onboard systems fail. Back in combat, Hibiki becomes so frustrated by the enemy constantly disappearing the he stops fighting. In the escape pod, Meia recalls the memories of her parents: Her Fahma tells her the young Meia that she receives all love form both her Ohma and her Fahma. And no matter how far away they are, they'll look after her. Back in the present, this make Meia realise how much her parents love her and makes Meia determined to pass on that love to the second generation. Suddenly, the pod alarm sound so Meia places Kahlua in the emergency space suit. Back in combat the Harvester ship makes a charge for the dormant Vandread-Dita . Then, at the last minute, the Vandread garbs the ship and blasts its cannons into it. Then, a second Harvester force is seen heading off in another direction - they seem to be going after the pod. And on the pod, Meia prepares to eject herself from it - she does - only to end up on the supply ship. She is greeted by both Pyoro and Ezra who then proceed to squabble over Kahlua. When Kahlua starts crying, Meia takes her in her arms and Kahlua stops - much the surprise of both Ezra and Pyoro. Meia smiles. Back on the Nirvana, Meia is in a good mood. Misty notices the change and praises her for it. Then Meia walks into a surprise put on by her fellow pirates.
Return To TopEpisode 9: Embrace All
The Nirvana has entered the magnetic field surrounded Mejarr. And the Dreads are under attack by more fake Vandreads. Meia and Hibiki are in the Vandread-Meia but separate due to poor visibility. Dita and Hibiki then combine to from the Vandread-Dita and go to fight the Fake-Vandread-Dita. They succeed, just as the other Dreads are called back to the Nirvana due to too much noise, but the Fake-Vandread-Jura blasts the Vandread-Dita. Dita and Hibiki are then separated and Hobiki disappears completely. Hibiki wakes up on a desert world where he is discovered by a group of men - two of which are called Kokoperi and Tatanka. They seem to recognise Hibiki as one who met someone called 'Sam'. When Hibiki regains consciousness, he is surprised to see that the men all communicate through thoughts. Back on the Nirvana, the pirates are all keen to try and locate Hibiki: Meia offers to go look for him, Dita refuses to sit around, Misty suggests the radar and Barnette is prepared to find him in the supply ship. The Boss decides to leave this matter for them all to decide. She then leaves the bridge, amused with the notion of Hibiki as one of their crew mates, when suddenly she suffers a mild heart attack. On the desert world, Hibiki is taken to a settlement. Once there, Kokoperi explains how these people live: It seems that the Harvesters from Earth are hunting these people for their tongues. However these people have no ill-feelings for the earth people because they can communicate with the spirits of this world. Apparently this ability has lasted on this planet for generations and it was enough to make the people of Earth frightened. As such, this planet has been sealed off from the rest of the universe but the isolation has taught these people to speak with the language of the heart. When Hibiki berates them for not fighting back, Kokoperi says they refuse to aid the negative consciousness and won't fight battles of hate. Kokoperi adds that victory is not achieved through fighting and Hibiki is being hasty out of fear. He then says Hibiki should go to the cave of the spirits to train his mind and become one with the spirits - after all, he has already spoken to a spirit. As the pirates work hard to find him, Hibiki goes to the cave and climbs a massive rock face. As he climbs, he hears Kokoperi's voice telling him by opening his heart, the spirits will open to him. Then come more voices from Hibiki's past berating him. Growing with frustration, Hibiki end sup falling from the rock face. Meanwhile, Tatanaka is worried that he'll fail, Kokoperi has faith in him - just he did in 'Sam'. And then Sam turns up - it's Rabat. Meanwhile, Duero tries to access Hibiki's data files. The Pexis, through Pyoro, shows them to him.
Hibiki is in a Pexis field, hearing many more voices. When he insists he is after the proof of his existence, the Pexis then deduces the proof he is himself is unknown. The Pexis then asks who he is? Hibiki then starts seeing unfamiliar memories. At the same time, Dita, Meia and Jura all feel an impulse and all point to the same coordinates on the star chart. On the Nirvana, Duero tells The Boss that Hibiki is of the first generation: he was originally with the explorer ship but was one of the few kept in stasis should the ship run into trouble. Immediately the Boss recognises him from the photo in her quarters. Suddenly the Pexis takes control over the ship and heads towards the desert world. On the desert world, Hibiki arrives to the conclusion that the Pexis is a living thing. Down below, Kokoperi and Tatanaka declare Hibiki to have made contact. As Kokoperi preforms a ceremony for the event, Rabat notes that he didn't think Hibiki would've got here. It was the revealed that Rabat, as Sam, crash landed on the planet a long time ago and was rescued by the people of this world. He did end up taking the test and passed - and even then he was a lot like Hibiki. But now, the sprits seem to have chosen Hibiki over him. Kokoperi declares Hibiki to possess the Blue Kachina (Vandread-Dita), White Wings (Vandread-Meia), Red Claws (Vandread-Jura), Eight Shadows (Dita, Meia, Jura, The Boss, Duero, Parfet, Pyoro and Paiwei) and One Hundred and Fifty hearts (the crew of the Nirvana). Thus, Hibiki seems to be in the centre of the universe - and if it is the will of the universe he shall overcome the challenge of himself. Hibiki continues to climb. As he does, the Pexis continues to ask questions. With each step Hibiki concludes that humans have time and should cherish each moment. And that he lives on to find an answer to why he exists. He also accepts the comradeship of the pirates, that he can't be himself if he loses a friend, he can't do anything on his own and he can't give up for the thought of anyone being sad. Nearing the top, Hibiki declares he can't think of himself, he'll fight for everyone on the Nirvana, he won't run and he'll be stronger for all of them! Down below, Rabat declares Hibiki to be on the stage for the first time and he should introduce himself. At the top of the rock face, Hibiki stands above a mountain range and yells out his name..... just as Dita approaches in her Dread. Later, Kokoperi tells Hibiki he has been reborn as a true warrior and plants a green gemstone on his forehead. The desert world has now become his homeland and it's people his new family and Hibiki is free to return any time he likes. Hibiki thanks Kokoperi.
Return To TopEpisode 10: Easy Come Easy Go
The Nirvana is making it's way through the magnetic field surrounding Mejarr, protected by a shield courtesy of Vandread-Jura. Everyone on board is very excited about returning although Misty seems somewhat left out. Dita however is keen on continuing being with Hibiki once it's all over. Suddenly, Misty berates everyone saying why they are all celebrating when there was the possibility that they may be harvested upon arrival. She then goes on to say that being from Pluto, Mejarr is not of her concern. On the Vandread-Jura Dita sends a message to Hibiki offering him some food when he gets back on bard. He seems quite keen with such a prospect. When Jura feels left out Barnette promises her something special when she returns. Jura then notes to Hibiki that he is a guy and he won't be allowed on Mejerr Hibiki writes this off by saying fighting the Harvest is of a greater concern. And when Dita swears to fight by Hibiki, Jura suggests that they both make a baby. When Hibiki shouts at her, Jura notes that he's not being entirely honest with himself. Back on board the Nirvana Parfet tells Duero that she's noticed a change, both subtle and gradual, in his character. Duero seems flattered that she noticed. Elsewhere, Misty is wandering in front of Pexis, feeling alone. When Pyoro invites her to a celebratory homecoming banquet, she refuses. Pyoro then sees that she's lonely and then the Pexis takes over: Through Pyoro, the Pexis speaks of loneliness. Misty counters this by saying she's fine by herself. She then wonders of the Pexis could be alone. Back on the Vandread-Jura, Jura asks Hibiki just how a baby is made through a man and a woman - he should know seeing as he assisted in the delivery of Kahlua. This prompts Hibiki to ponder on the prospect of being a parent and what he'll teach his kids. He then settles On the Nirvana, the banquet gets underway - only someone forget to tell Bart. When he emerges from his pocket dimension, he feels left out. He then sees Duero and Parfet together - and when he sees BC by herself, he decides to hit on her. Meanwhile, The Pexis tells Misty it split back in the colonising phase: It was through an accident with an Earthian research ship. Thus, the Pexis is left wanting to see the other half. It is able to interact with the other half but it's connected with the Earthlings. Misty then concludes that the Pexis is fighting a friend and is lonely itself. Back on the bridge, Bart invites BC to the banquet through a hand-written letter - one that's smudged and badly written. She tells him she appreciates the thought.
The Nirvana make sit through the magnetic storm. The pirates all toast their success and Hibiki and Jura return. Meanwhile, Meia finds Misty. Misty refuses to go to the banquet because she would rather keep the Pexis company. Meia then decides to stay with her. At the banquet, Jura is reunited with Barnette - which prompts Dita and Hibiki to exchange awkward glances. When Parfet notices Misty's absent, Hibiki says she doesn't really fit in. Elsewhere, Misty admits to Meia that she's afraid of being alone. Meia responds to this by saying she used to seek solitude: By keeping everyone at a distance she could trust only herself but ending up hating herself for it. But if she had to start over she would do the same - only she would be with everyone she knows. She then smiles, leaving Misty in awe. Then Dita comes along to take Misty to the banquet saying that she's never alone on the Nirvana. She then invites Misty to, once this is over, stay at her place on Mejerr. Suddenly, the alarm goes off - The Nirvana has entered a Taraak minefield. A clearance code is required to pass through. The Boss forbids all action against the field as it may assist in the upcoming conflict. Neither Bart, Duero nor Hibiki have the necessary clearance code as it was only issued to senior officers. The Taraak defence systems then activate, taking aim at the Nirvana. Parfet then gets an idea to isolate the system - Duero offers to help saying he feels less uncertain around her. Parfet says she likes that about him. The countdown for response ticks away, leaving all the pirates powerless. BC looks edgy - she then reaches up to touch her neck bracelet. The countdown hits two seconds left..... ....when suddenly BC starts speaking in a man's voice (no, I did not type that wrong - Spike). Identifying himself (?!) as Tenmei Uragasumi, an intelligence officer in the Taraak military, he provides the clearance code to enable safe passage through the defence systems. Everyone is understandably quite surprised by this turn of events, particularly Bart, but The Boss admits to knowing all along. When Uragasumi learns of this he tells The Boss she's a wonderful person and feels proud to have served her. Uragasumi then orders himself to be taken to the brig. Once there, Hibiki confronts him. Uragsumi then says Taraak needed to have spy implemented as the differences between Taraak and Mejerr are too great. Duero then wonders on the chances that the men wouldn't still be alive if it wasn't for Uragasumi and the notes that people can change their will - with the Nirvana being proof enough. Suddenly, the Nirvana is surrounded by fleets from both Taraak and Mejerr.
Return To TopEpisode 11: Paradise
The fleets from Taraak and Mejerr are ready to attack. The Taraak fleet demands unconditional surrender whilst the Mejerr fleet offers to escort the pirates as prisoners. When the pirates comply, Uragasumi says the outcome will determine the how Taraak reacts to the harvest - but he has an ace up his sleeve. Thus the pirates prepare to abandon ship leaving Duero, Bart, Hibiki and Uragasumi. Women of Mejerr come on board in a rather forceful takeover. When Dita prepares a bento for all four of the men, it ends up being ruined. Meanwhile, Duero, Bart, Hibiki and Pyoro pass by the Pexis. Duero then notes to Hibiki that this was the place where he first met Dita - in fact, it's the place where they all met. And since then, the truth about their differences has been made clear. Hibiki tells Duero that he knows him as first generation and that he can talk to both Grandma and Grandpa. Duero instead injects a serum into Hibiki, sending him unconscious. Hibiki then falls into the Pexis. Pyoro says the Pexis is keeping him safe and Duero says this was all Uragasumi's idea: Hibiki is the ace and no one should know that he's on board the Nirvana. Elsewhere, Barnette shuts down the Nirvana under a password and Jura takes the Baby book with her. The Nirvana is then taken by the Taraak fleet and Dueor, Bart and Uragasumi all act like they've been captured. Pyoro also acts dead. On Mejerr, the pirates are put on trial. The Boss along with Barnette, Parfet, Dita, Ezra, Misty, Meia and Jura are at the mercy of a judge who declares the baby book to be heretical. The judge then declares they the pirates are all witches who have been spreading misinformation of the Harvest, in an attempt to have a coup de-tat. When all of the pirates are sentenced to life imprisonment, Dita yells at the judge for not listening to them and being blind to the truth. Although this act goes nowhere, Misty praises Dita for her courage. On Taraak, Uragasumi is greeted by the Taraak Prime Minister and awarded a medal for obtaining vital information on Mejerr. When asked about his appearance, Uragasumi refuses to change until his mission is entirely completed. He is then given a new task: he must stop Bart and Duero from thinking of joining the women.
The pirates are all on a ship, heading for an orbital prison. When The Boss asks Meia if she's scared, she answers by saying she wonders what Hibiki would say in a situation like this. The Boss replies by saying he would say the same thing. In prison, The Boss is recognised by the other prisoners who all offer to help. Dita is delighted by seeing so many people wanting to change the world and themselves. Meanwhile Hibiki regains consciousness in the Pexis. When he senses the Pexis to be scared, he vows not to lose and is promptly ejected. Wandering around the deserted Nirvana he eventually finds Dita's bento and then Pyoro - who tells him Barnette locked everything under a security code. On Taraak, Duero and Bart are in prison being tortured. Their torturers believe them to victims of circumstance and have been brainwashed. Yet if they hail Grandpa they can save themselves. Duero rebukes this by saying it's the torturers themselves who are deluded and it's only through women that he found a love for life. Uragasumi the enters. Duero is suspicious and Bart admits to falling in love with him/her. Uragasumi then takes the whip from the torturers and uses it against them. He then tells Duero and Bart that Hibiki is waiting for them and ditches his medal. In the Mejerr prison, the pirates are rescued by a second group of pirates led by Rebecca and Valore. When Misty asks who they are, Dita says they were the leaders of the pirates whom chose to stay behind. Rebecca then gets to meet Ezra and Kahlua. All the prisoners are rescued and agree to help all of the pirates. The Boss then plans to take back the Nirvana. Sensing this change, the Pexis boots up the Nirvana (but Hibiki can't do anything due to the security lockdown). The pirates then return to the Nirvana where Hibiki is waiting. He greets them all and Pyoro goes to greet Pyoro-2 - only to end up being at odds with Rebecca. Barnette then reveals the password - it was a word they all knew well: SMILE. Then, the men return: Bart returns to his pocket dimension and The Boss forgives Uragasumi on the condition that he returns to being BC. Uragasumi touches the neck bracelet and BC's voice returns. Now reunited, the pirates prepare for the next phase....
Return To TopEpisode 12: Secrets (Himegoto)
BC meets Hibiki in the hanger. There he thanks her for opening his yes at the beginning and giving him his first steps in proving his existence. Also, Misty gives Dita some encouragement. Dita answers by saying that she'll never give up as she has constant faith in Hibiki in that he's always doing his best and when she's with him, her heart races and she refuses to give up - all for him. In the medical bay. Paiwei admits to Duero that she'll give up on her Pai checks because she would rather sort herself out (note: That's the most sensible thing she says throughout the entire series - Spike). Duero says he feels the same way. On the bridge, The Boss declares to BC that the time has come to open a communications channel to Grandpa and Grandma. On Taraak, Jin, Hibiki's grandfather, goes to speak with Grandpa, Zen, and the Taraak council. Jin proudly displays a budding plant, proving that something has finally grown on the surface of Taraak. Grandma then opens up a communications channel to speak to the council. Jin recognises her as his sister Anri. It is then revealed that Jin is of first generation and he volunteered to guard the people of the colonist ship kept in stasis. he then goes to appeal to the council and Anri that this needless conflict has gone on far too long and it needs to end just as the Harvest fleets approach. The future is not for them to decide. The Taraak council then reaches deadlock - four votes to four. in then says there is another member of the first generation who still needs to have his say - and it's Hibiki. It's revealed that Hibiki is the son of both Zen and Anri and he woke up eleven years ago. The Boss then enters the meeting and Jin recognises her as his niece. The Boss and Jin then agree that the future should be entrusted to Hibiki. Hibiki then enters the meeting telling Jin he's made some friends. Then, in a message broadcast across Taraak and Mejerr, Hibiki encourages everyone to step forward and to stand up to the Harvester fleets. The future is theirs to build and no one will take it from them. He tells everyone that mustn't give up and no one needs an excuse to die. And he'll keep fighting on to keep the river of life flowing. Then, in front of the populations of Taraak and Mejerr, he and Dita combine. Jin is impressed.
The Nirvana prepares to make a stand. They are then joined by Rebecca's ship, eager to help. All the pirate dreads gather with Meia in command. Valore follows ready for action. Barnette also comes in the supply ship. Suddenly, a Harvester flagship arrives - it surprises the bridge for arriving too early and that it carries the Nirvana's ID code. Barnette immediately heads into attack when a familiar voice says her to be still the hothead. It's Gasco! It turns out she didn't die after all - she instead managed to take control of the flagship (man, I love this show - Spike). She then returns to the Reg and resumes her role from Barnette. Gasco says Barnette did a great job and Barnette thanks her for staying alive. Barnette then goes out to join the other Dreads. Just then, a new fleet shows up - It's led by Rabat. He says he found their trail of markers and got some help in the form of Kokoperi and Tatanka as well as Liz and Patch. And then comes a second fleet - it is made up of people from Melanus, who are keen to help Hibiki. Then a third fleet arrives. It is from Taraak, prepared to fight the Harvesters. They are accompanied by a bangata squadron led by Ozeki Kyunmel, who requests permission to have the first blow. Finally, a fourth fleet of ships come from Mejerr. With a massive line of defence at the ready, Zen notes they have all come for Hibiki. Anri adds that's all out of their hands. The three remaining flagships finally arrive. The minefield activates and manages to destroy one of them. More fake Vandreads emerge and Ozeki leads his Bangata squadron into attack. The battle is on! The Vandread-Dita goes into attack as the Dreads follow, Gasco uses her captured flagship while Bart contributes his missiles. In the middle of it all, as the Vandread-Dita and the Dreads down many of the fakes, Valore notes to Meia that she seems different then usual. Jura says they have all changed on this journey. Meia then goes on to combine with Hibiki to form the Vandread-Meia. BC also notes a change in each and every crewmember of the Nirvana. Back in the action, Ozeki fights his way through the fakes. When Hibiki comments on his fighting, Ozeki replies living takes work while dying is easy. On Jura's Dread, Pyoro senses something coming - and something does: a new Harvester ship arrives - the biggest one of all. Rabat calls it a 'Big-boy' identifying it as what the Earth forces uses for destroying planets they need to use any more. Jura and Hibiki form the Vandread Jura and they lead a Dread chrage. The Big-Boy fires a laser that separates the Vandread-Jura. Hibiki then decides to combine with Jura, Meia and Dita to form the Super-Vandread. The Super-Vandread fights it way through the Harvester forces as the Big-boy fires it's laser. The Super-Vandread fires it's own laser and both clash. But its the Super-Vandread's laser that wins and manages to damage the Big-boy. It is then revealed in the Big-boy is the Red Pexis - in the form of a little boy.
Return To TopEpisode 13: Trust
The final battle is in full swing. A flagship is eventually destroyed and even Butan gets into the action in her mecha. Big-boy blasts it's laser, destroying all in it's path. On the Nirvana, Parfet notes the Pexis to be frozen. Pyoro then tells Hibiki, Jura, Dita and Meia that the Pexis is a being that changes according to the hearts of whoever touches it - hence the red, being a colour of danger, uncertainty and a closed heart. On the Nirvana, Paiwei is watching Kahlua and notices how time passes much differently for the new generation. Duero says it's time for the new generation to begin. Back in the battlefield, Super Vandread keeps fighting's way through the Harvesters. Big-boy blasts the Super Vandread causing it to separate. Hibiki then goes to charge in his Vanguard as the Dreads follow. The Red Pexis reacts by swallowing up the Vanguard and ensnaring the three Dreads. The Boss then hands command over to Valore and Barnette. In the Big-boy, Hibiki confronts the Pexis child. It goes to knock him downusing the power of it's mind before saying they have all established a point of synchronisation with the Pexis where they have obtained amazing powers. However, they are all incomplete: They are all to be harvested. The Pexis child then thanks Zen and Anri for existing - just for Earth's continued survival. The Earth gave them all birth and now it's time to pay them back by surrendering themselves to save the Earth. The people of Taraak and Mejerr are fortunate for being able to die unlike those unable to die - and thus will become part of earth. It is the ultimate virtue to die for someone else. When the bridge crew hear this they become disillusioned but Misty tries to bring them back up. When Dita yells at the Pexis child for being a murderer, it argues by saying it will stop failure and ensure survival. Dita then says she cares more about everyone's feelings than anyone else and she will only give up her own life on her own will. Jura chimes in by telling the Pexis child it doesn't have what it takes to open one's heart. Meia adds that by knowing to die merely encourages everyone to live life to the fullest. And that while everything is learned by trial and error, living is not done just for themselves but to leave signposts for the next one to follow - and cowards won't move forward for top seeing no sign to see how bright the future is. The Pexis child sneers at this by saying believing in the future is for the weak. To this Hibiki laughs - he then goes on to say that the greatest challenge he had ever faced was conquering himself. He also laughs at the Pexis child saying it is scared and generating the most absurd reasons for what it does. But the difference between Hibiki and the Pexis child is that Hibiki has friends who all believe in him. The Pexis child is all alone and Hibiki won't listen to him (that's telling him! - Spike). Meanwhile, the Blue Pexis responds to this. Back on the Big-boy the Pexis child says to Hibiki he just doesn't like him and strikes him hard - hard enough to make Hibiki bleed. Hibiki is sent back into his Vanguard and ejected from the Big-boy. The Big-boy prepares to fire a super laser. As it does so, the portion of the ship containing the Pexis child ejects and drifts away.
But Hibiki refuses to let the Pexis child have it's way. On the Nirvana, Parfet senses a change in the Pexis - like it did before. BC says that that time the Pexis created a wormhole for the purposes of self-preservation,. But Pyoro says the wormhole the Pexis child is creating is being used to twist time and space - with the intention of destroying everything within this galaxy. Hibiki then takes his Vanguard to block the beam saying he's learned a lot being with the pirates and if he dies he'll live on the hearts of them all. Dita comes in her Dread saying that even if the world is complex, everything regarding Hibiki is understandable. And she'll protect him when he protects everyone else. She then declares, as her motivation, that she loves him and will do anything to protect Hibiki! (note: that's the only time she ever uses his name in the entire series - Spike). Hibiki yells for Dita to get away - by her name - but they both combine to form the Vandread-Dita. In there, Dita tells Hibiki that they are stronger together. She then insists that he call her by her name a second time. Then, Meia and Jura come in to form the Super-Vandread. The Super-Vandread then holds back the laser - and slowly but surely, the wormhole begins collapsing in on itself. The earthian forces get sucked back into the wormhole as the Nirvana's allying fleets flee. The Super-Vandread doesn't look set to last but suddenly in the middle of it all, the Pexis comes to the conclusion that friends are there to be cherished and to be protected. It then causes the Nirvana to fire off a range of super Pexis missiles to help. This manages to not only collapse the wormhole but destroy the Big-boy as well. And the Pexis child, in his escaping craft, is also destroyed. In the aftermath, Meia, Dita, Jura and Hibiki find themselves caught in a Pexis shape encasing the Vandread that stretches back to the Nirvana. Meia then declares the Pexis one of their friends. Hibiki adds they succeeded in protecting their future. On the Nirvana The Boss concedes that she can't die yet - she has to see how that future will turn out. Victorious, the pirates gather in the Nirvana as The Boss and BC return from negotiating with Zen and Anri. They say that communications have been restored between Taraak and Mejerr and the Nirvana is to serve as the middle ground: It will the site of the first experiments with co-existence. Hibiki, Bart and Duero are to return to Taraak and select candidates to live with the pirates. However, this means an immediate departure. All the pirates are saddened by this news - Dita in particular as Hibiki hasn't fulfilled his promise to go visit her room. When Misty learns of this, she begins thinking dirty thoughts. And so, Hibiki, Bart and Duero are set to leave. They assemble in the hanger with a shuttle ready and waiting and with the pirates all assembled to say goodbye. Hibiki then insists that Pyoro is coming with them. Parfet says goodbye to Duero and then Paiwei brushes past the lock of hair covering part of his face. Of course what is under that hair leaves both Parfet and Paiwei seemingly impressed. Jura then confronts Hibiki issuing a set of guidelines for the men they are to find. She then tells them to call regularly before beginning to cry. She dives for Hibiki but he moves out of the way, thus allowing Jura to go into Duero and Bart. Barnette tells Hibiki Jura just wants a baby. Meia then goes to Hibiki to say thank you. They shake hands and she says that she's glad they met. Finally Misty brings Dita up to Hibiki. Dita wants to hear him call her by her name - Hibiki instead balks out. Then BC calls Hibiki to leave and so he turns away. He goes to the shuttle and steps aboard it as Dita looks forlorn....
...But at the last minute he turns around! He thrusts out his hand and calls for her to join him. Overjoyed, Dita runs up the gangplank and leaps forward, her hand grasping his.
The credits roll accompanied by footage over the past twenty six episodes and the 1st stage opening theme 'Trust' (Tatoe kimi no sono udega / kusari ni tsunagare temo - Spike) And at the end of the credits comes the ambiguous title of 'Never End'
